I WAS WONDERING IF ACRYLIC NAILS IS HARMFUL TO YOUR NATURAL NAIL AND DOES ALL SALONS USE MMA? I AM GOING FOR THE FIRST TIME NEXT WEEK AND I WANTED TO KNOW IF I SHOULD GO THROUGH WITH IT?
Two things can happen when getting acrylic nails:
1) If you don't follow-up with a new fill every 2 weeks or so you can develop fungus in any air pockets between the acrylic and nail.
2) The manicurist (or what ever they're called) will actually sand down your nails to make room for the acrylic, making your own nails weak and possibly causing them to tear off easily.
Two weeks ago, I accidentally tore off an acrylic.... fingernail and all (OUCH! VERY PAINFUL!!!) Fortunately my nail is growing back quickly.... I won't be getting acrylic nails again anytime soon, though!
No. You will find most salons do not use products useing MMA. To be sure find a local salon that carries products like OPI who stand on the fact they do not have MMA. Keep away from chain nails salons where you are more likely to come in contact with the chemical.
