Of course they can!!! ANd getting a manicure might be incentive to not bite your nails because they will look so nice! If you are really interested in stopping, there is a product out there that is designed to help kids stop sucking their thumb. Basically a gross tasting thing that you spread onto your fingers. I had a friend that stopped biting her nails with that remedy so you should check it out.

Hi, i am a nail technician from Manchester in the U.K and i do a special package at my salon to encourage nail biters to come and have treatments on their nails.
It consists of a 10 week program where a weekly manicue is performed and at first a brightly coloured polish is applied so the technician can see if there are any chips on the polish hence a relapse. The bright polish should also encourage the client to take care of their nails. After the 10 week period if the client has been successful she is rewarded with a manicure home kit, the polish of her choice and a free maincure.Try it out it has been good for us

i am a nail biter and a nail tech, which sounds wierd i know but all i can say is get some acrylic or gel nails on, and keep them on. your nails will look beautiful and you wont be able to bite them. if you stick with it and regularly get them done, i garauntee when they come off you wouldnt dream of putting them anywhere near your mouth

i have the same problem but my nails aren't that short. I think that if you get your nails done, that might make you want to stop. Just looking at how nice your nails look can make a big difference to you. For me, I am going to try to get fake nails or even tips. This way I won't be able to bite them

Yes. as a proffessional nail technician for 10 years
your nail biting habit can be cured with a weekly manicure for 4 weeks, after that i suggest you have one every two weeks, then once a month. You should see a difference in your nail growth by treating the problem. Nail Biting is a nervous habit and can be cured. It is aknown fact that if you get a manicure on a weekly basis you are not prone to bite because they will look good.
